Effective Hair Straightening Made Easy With A Ceramic Heater Stove

CLICK for details

Professional hair care providers and beauty salons are used by many women who want their hair to be healthy, well cared for and flattering to their appearance.  Women have different hair textures and need the services of a professional hairdresser who is trained in the composition and care of their particular type of hair. Other factors affect a woman’s hair, such as whether or not the hair has been colored or has been given a permanent wave.

Women of African descent have a hair composition that is unique to their race. Part of Afro hair care is techniques employed by professional hair dressers to straighten hair shafts for a smooth appearance and reduction of “frizzing”. To accomplish professional straightening of hair, a ceramic heater stove is used to heat the irons and combs utilized in the straightening process.  These stoves are used largely only by professionals in salons rather than individuals doing their own coiffures at home.  These stoves have intense heating elements that allow for instantaneous usage of heated irons and curlers. In other words, they are extremely hot and must be used with great care.

Ceramic heater stoves are typically constructed of a ceramic material of excellent quality that provides for even distribution of heat inside the stove. The back panel design assists in holding heating tools within the heater. Most models maintain the high “instant heat” temperature of 825° F (460° C).   Thermal irons and combs are the type of tools that are placed in the stove. It instantly heats them within a minute. These heated instruments are then used for straightening hair.  A hair stylist is aware that the stove-heated irons must not get too hot or they will badly damage a woman’s hair.  They also use such heated instruments only as much as needed to create a certain desired hairstyle and no more.  Such heater stove-warmed hair styling instruments should not be used more than once a month on the same person’s hair to lessen the chance of damaging the hair. They also may not be used with flammable products or anywhere near where such products are located.

There are several types of ceramic heater stoves on the market today. Brands include Gold “N Hot by Belson, Golden Supreme, Kentucky Maid, Stella Pro and Annie International.  The basic characteristics of these appliances are:

  • A ceramic element that maintains even and steady heat
  • An adjustable rack (or support)for the tools to be heated
  • A four foot long power cord
  • Space for one (or two) irons and one comb
  • An on/off switch (usually found on the cord)

The Belson models of ceramic heater stoves include the Gold ‘N Hot GH5100 Professional Jumbo with a suggested retail price (SRP) of $74.99 and the Gold ‘N Hot GH5000 Professional Ceramic Heater Stove with Adjustable Rack offered at $89.99 (SRP), both by Belson Products.  The Annie Ceramic Thermal Stove Jumbo Model 5526 is produced by Annie International. The Kentucky Maid, by the company of the same name, has a SRP of $94.99, a large mouth opening and a steady temperature of 1000°F. It also comes with a one year guarantee.  The Golden Supreme model is manufactured by the company of the same name.

There are also models that provide a professional salon with a complete hair straightening station. These include the Stella 4salon Total stove Iron System 9960 by Stella Pro costs $149.95 SRP and is an all-in-one system contains 15 pieces including flat irons and combs. The Belson Gold ‘N Hot Professional Stove Iron System  includes a jumbo stove, nine round and two flat irons and a pressing comb at the same price.  Billson’s Gold “N Hot GH5249 Professional Stove Iron System has seven pieces for $129.95 SRP.

Any of these stoves may be ordered online or purchased through a hair care professional’s supply house.  From an individual stove for use with existing combs and irons to a complete ceramic stove system with all necessary types of irons in a stand around it, professional hair stylists will be able to equip themselves for success in styling African American hair.

Ceramic Heaters

With the high price of oil, many people are trying to save money on their heating bills. Space heaters are one option and the two basic types are radiant and convection. Radiant heaters direct heat toward an object and convection heaters pull or blow air over a surface such as an entire room. Ceramic heaters are one of the newer forms of convection heaters and they range in price from about $30 to $60, making them a cost-effective option for most people interested in supplemental or alternative heating.

Portable ceramic heaters emit a large amount of heat from their small boxes. They are considered safer and more energy efficient than many other heaters. They heat up quickly but their plastic housing remains cool. These heaters are well suited for desktop or small room use. They feature aluminum baffles and ceramic plates that heat electricity. The aluminum absorbs the heat and a fan conveys the hot air to the room.

To determine the effectiveness of portable ceramic heaters, shoppers should understand how the products are rated. Heat output for electric ceramic heaters is measured in wattage. Some models feature multiple heat settings and a fan setting for operation without heat. The heaters are usually compact in size and provide directional space heating or use an oscillating fan.

According to ceramic heater reviews, one popular model is the SAFEHEAT DCH1030 Basic Ceramic Heater from Delonghi. This approximately $30 model features a room thermostat that the user sets to the desired temperature, which is automatically maintained. The ceramic element self-regulates the output of power according to the temperature. One very useful feature is the anti-freeze setting, which automatically turns on the heater when the temperature falls below 44 degrees Fahrenheit.

Another of the portable ceramic heaters touted in ceramic heater reviews is the CER1505TO Oscillating Desktop Ceramic Fan Heater by Windchaser. It features two heat settings (750 and 1,500 watts), as well as a cool fan setting. It also has a thermostat and 41-degree Fahrenheit anti-freeze function, similar to the Delonghi model. Oscillation can be activated using a switch. For safety, there is an overheating protection cut off and a tip over switch that turns off the unit when it falls.

Safety is a top priority when operating electric ceramic heaters and shoppers should make sure their selected model features the United Laboratories (UL) mark. The heater should be placed a minimum of three feet from any combustible items and plugged directly into a wall outlet. Children and pets should be supervised when the heater is in use and the unit should be turned off and unplugged before leaving the room or going to bed. Under no circumstances should any space heater be used to dry clothing.

What is considered the best ceramic heater depends largely on the size of the space being heated and the desired features. Most portable ceramic heaters deliver fast and effective heat to warm an entire room. Their compact design and low price tag make them a wallet-friendly alternative to cranking up the central heating system on cold days.
