Snugglesafe Pet Heat Pad

Everyone loves to be warm, including our pets. When we humans feel cold, we turn to items like robes and slippers, along with our ability to turn up the heat in our home. However, animals can use none of these. Fortunately, the Snugglesafe Pet Heat Pad exists to warm up our pets when they need it most. This article provides an overview of this unique product, along with some tips on acquiring one for your own pet.

The Snugglesafe is a rubber disc filled with gel called Thermapol, which is patented by the Snugglesafe Company. It is nine inches across, making it large enough to keep even a big dog warm, and small enough to avoid overpowering a tiny cat. Its heat comes from being microwaved for a few minutes. Depending upon how hot you decide to make it, the heat can last for up to 12 hours. Microwave time is determined by the heat level desired as well as the strength of your microwave. The item comes with full instructions for determining microwave times.

It seems that Snugglesafe has thought of virtually everything a customer might worry about for pet heaters. The Thermapol is non-toxic, and the rubber is chew resistant. They also sell little fabric slip covers so that pets can comfortably rest upon the disc. Finally, the Snugglesafe has been professionally approved for total safety by the respected product testing corporation SGS.

This item can be found in a variety of locations, both online and in stores. The best price will probably be found on Amazon.com, where new and used ones are sold. Of course, before buying one, you should consider your pet’s preferences. Would the animals dislike an item that still faintly smelled of another cat? While these particular items are hand washable, do remember that pets’ senses are much keener than ours are. Your dog or cat may detect an odor that you or the previous owner may not. However, if your pet is one that generally does not mind the scents of other animals, then you may be able to get away with purchasing a used item.

Animals cannot tell us when they feel cold, but that does not mean that they never grow chilly. The Snugglesafe Pet Heat Pad is a wonderful way to ensure that your pet stays warm throughout the day and night. You can purchase one today from one of the sources mentioned in this article.

Pet Heaters: Unique and Necessary

Below you’ll find Generally Information and Tips on Pet Heaters along with links to various products and reviews.

General Information and Tips:

Here at HeaterGeek.com we’re interesting in all types of heaters, regardless of who they’re meant to keep warm. That includes all our fury little friends that add so much to our lives. Pet heaters come in many shapes and sizes and the type of heater you need will obviously depend on the type of pet you’re trying to keep warm.

For dogs or larger animals, there is heated dog beds or the dog heater. These mostly come as a pet heated pad that is laid in the bottom of the dog house or kennel. These you can find as kennel heaters. You’ll find that when shopping for pet heaters, many will claim to be a “universal pet heater” or warmer. This is pretty much the case as most of these are generally heating pads like we use for minor aches and pains. Some popular brands are PetSafe (Amazon), Petmate, K&H, or Zoo Med (which is made primarily for reptiles).

When shopping for the right warmer or pet heater, let’s look at the different types depending on the animal. Check out All Pet Heaters on Amazon.

Dogs & Cats: Kennel heaters (Amazon) come mostly in the form of pads that are placed in the dog kennel and are required to be plugged into some type of power source. Found generally in 13-80 watts and rated to maintain a certain temperature (generally 100 degrees or sometimes higher). Popular brands are K&H, Petmate, and Lectro-Kennel. You’ll find that most all of these types work as outdoor pet heaters.

As far as finding a kennel that is built with heat installed, there’s not much out there. Most, as stated earlier, are just the pads you place in the kennel itself. There are small Kitty Campers that are heated and made just for cats.

One thing to consider is the location of outlets, and if you’re as weary about plugging things in as I am in our household, you may want to check out the popular SnuggleSafe Pet Heating Pad. This is something you place in the microwave and will keep your pet warm for up to 12 hours.

Reptiles: Reptile heaters come in pads like the Zoo Med brand. However, you’ll also see these in heated synthetic rocks as well as lamps and lights. Reptiles require a pretty steady temperature and most owners will be familiar with these types of products. These heaters such as Zoo Med are made to go under the reptile tank and maintain a consistent temperature.

Other types of pet heaters include infrared and ceramic heaters that screw into normal light bulb sockets. These are actually pretty nice and preferred since it’s easier to secure a light socket and area above a kennel or animal area without having the cords running along the ground. Although most pad heater manufacturers claim to have chew resistant cords, anytime a cord is laying on the ground its capable of becoming wet or damaged more easier than something hanging or secured like a light socket.
